Wyedean Mushing
A stage stop style sled dog race based over 3 days and 4 trails, one of the toughest dryland races in the UK. Trails are a mix of hard pack gravel, grass, dirt, some hills, hairpins & lots of turns something for everyone! A chance to swop dogs in and out and run team sizes to suit the trail! your choice per stage! A unique event to the UK sled dog scene and one not to be missed. now in its 4th edition.
New for this year!
We once again have a change in the layout of the trails this year with 4 looped trails, one of which is new, never before race on! saturday will be a challenge to show who has the best all round dogs. ones who can run wide swooping trails and keep their pace up and a trail with 13 turns in 3 miles! friday and sunday again use the same trail as last year!
Mushers meeting 4pm canicross/bikejor and 4.30pm sled dog mushers @ matts van 'tanglefoot'
Day 1 fri from 4.30pm - looped trail - mallards pike - 4.0 mile approx
Day 2 sat 7.30am - looped trail - staple edge - 4.0 mile approx
Day 2 sat 4.30pm - looped trail - speech house - 3.0 mile appox
Day 3 sun 7.30am - looped trail mallards pike - 4.0 mile approx
Classes - unless stated, 8 dogs can be entered per team, max 6 dog running any one stage
( 2 resting ) team class allows 2 musher to pool dogs and team up together, each musher must run at least one stage each!
mushers can run any size team from 2 - 6 dogs (1 dog frieght permited) on any stage unless stated.
Open - open class dogs and mixed teams ( open/pure bred/non pure bred/pure bred non KC reg)
(hounds/non kc siberians/mixed bred sled dogs/kc reg non sled dog breed dogs)
Pure bred indiviual musher - KC reg'd siberians, greenland, eskimo, malamute etc
Pure bred team up - 2 x mushers - 8 x dogs
Freight individual musher- malamute, greenland, canadian eskimo, samoyed, akita (1 dog freight teams are permitted!)
Junior - 1 - 2 dog (sat AM and sun AM only)
Cani-cross men-1 - 2 dog (any breed)
Cani-cross women-1 - 2 dog (any breed)
Bike/scoot -jor - 1 - 2 dog scooter or bike (any breed)
we reconise SDE reg, NPSD reg , SHCGB, SSHC, SDAS open reg and SHWA welfare registered pure bred dogs.
This year the Canicross classes will be presented by The CaniCross Trailrunners and will once again run the same trails as the sled dog teams. Times will be adjusted for starting to ensure canicrossers can get out in good light.
The Junior Wyedean Quest will once again take place on the Saturday afternoon and Sunday Morning.
This year the Junior Saturday trail will be a full length approx 2.75 mile trail with lots of turns. Those teams sharing dogs with their junior musher should be aware of this when planning which dogs run what stages. The sunday stage will be a shorter 1 mile trail.
please note, bike-jor and cani-cross classes are timed starts at 30 second intervals.
Frieight classes will leave first (7.30am) - 1 hour before other classes on Am stages and last class off on Pm classes to get cooler temps.
